About Butterfly Nautilus:

Symbolically the butterfly represents change, transformation, and rebirth.  Moving through the stages of its life, it experiences pain and struggle prior to releasing from the confines of the cocoon.  If assisted, the emerging butterfly will perish.  With its own strength and inner resolve, the butterfly will slowly lift upward, open its wings, and fly into a final transformation of supreme beauty and magnificence.

The nautilus represents strength, power, and continuous growth which builds upon the lessons and experiences of the past.  The oldest known creature to live on this planet, the nautilus has survived for over 500 million years.  As the creature within grows, the nautilus shell builds newer, larger chambers; holding onto, yet closing off the part of the shell it once called "home."  Like the nautilus, we hold the gifts of our own unique story, with all its history, memories and lessons, as we move forward in embracing the fullness of our ultimate expression.

The combination of these two powerfully symbolic images of transformative growth and change inspired me to name my surrender, Butterfly Nautilus.
